In July of last year, independent AAA studio That’s No Moon was formally unveiled, comprised of developers with experience at some of the biggest studios and companies in the industry, including the likes of Naughty Dog, Infinity Ward, Bungie, and more. Michael Mumbauer, who had previously been the head of PlayStation’s Visual Arts Group, was the studio’s CEO- though that no longer seems to be the case.
Mumbauer recently shared the news on his LinkedIn page that he is no longer the CEO of That’s No Moon. He did not share the reason for his departure, or where he’s headed next, but expressed his confidence that the studio “will do incredible things.”
“It is with a heavy heart that I share some shocking and sad news. I am no longer the CEO of That’s No Moon,” Mumbauer wrote. “I love the company that I built and all the amazing people I brought inside it. They are a collection of some of the finest artists and technicians in the world. I have no doubt they will do incredible things and I will miss them dearly.
“When TNM’s debut game comes out, I will be amongst the first to play it and when it wins awards, I will be celebrating with them.
“For now, I leave Las Vegas, with an eye towards the future.
“I’m hopeful, inspired and ready for what’s NeXT.”
That’s No Moon’s debut project hasn’t yet been announced, but it’s been previously confirmed that whatever the game is, it’s going to be a story-driven action-adventure title, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) directorial duo Taylor Kurosaki and Jacob Minkoff leading the project.
