The Elder Scrolls Online Has 772,374 Subscribers

ZeniMax Online Studios' MMO hasn't been a bust after all.

SuperData Research presented its findings on the top subscription-based MMOs of 2013 along with their respective revenues. While the firm reported that the MMO market has “been shrinking since 2010, dropping from $30.6 million monthly active subscribers worldwide to $23.4 million in 2014. The subscription MMO market has declined to $2.9 billion, with average spend at $170,” it presented the total number of subscribers for the recently released The Elder Scrolls Online.

Despite criticisms of the game’s content not justifying its asking price, The Elder Scrolls Online currently has 772,374 subscribers. This is helping to contribute to the overall average spending among MMOs.

Nonetheless, it has a way to before it beats World of Warcraft which has raked in more than $1 billion revenue in the year 2013, leaving games like Lineage, TERA and Star Wars: The Old Republic far behind.
