One of the issues with ‘world premiers’ these days is that their definition has changed- earlier it used to mean a game debut, an announcement of a title that simply did not exist officially until then. Now it could mean just about any new snippet of information, even if it is about a game that had already been announced previously. So even though we were suitably excited by The Game Awards’ confirmation that they would have ten new world premiers at the event this year, that excitement was a bit tempered with the knowledge that might still not mean ten new game announcements altogether.
Well, apparently, the show will have at least some new game announcements- Host and Producer Geoff Keighley clarified during a livestream on Periscope that among the world premieres will be included announcements of new games. Which is good to know- and since we know that Nintendo and Hideo Kojima, at the very least, are planning something big for the event, it sounds like whatever it is that we get to see will be something quite exciting.
