The Industry Reacts To Microsoft’s Buyout of Mojang

'Wow.'

Microsoft just bought out Mojang for a staggering $2.5 billion, which is an amazing amount of money to spend on a developer that has only ever made one hit game (albeit one that is a pop culture sensation: Minecraft), and one that is already available on, well, pretty much all gaming platforms under the sun.

This move was met with a lot of surprise from professionals in the gaming industry, most of whom were taken aback at the obscene amount of money Microsoft had spent here.

Paul Rustchynsky, whom you might know as the DriveClub dude, was apparently struck speechless, as he could only say, “$2.5 Billion, wow.”

Meanwhile, Mike Drucker from IGN, expressed nothing but sheer terror, rather eloquently so: “I just hope Microsoft will keep Minecraft a fun, easy-to-use experience like they did with Windows, Microsoft Office, Xbox Live,”
