The Last Guardian’s Graphics Were Souped Up When It Was First Revealed

We can only hope Yoshida came clean because everything is good with the game now.

While the newest trailer for The Last Guardian has blown people away, this isn’t the first time the game has gotten people plenty excited. When the game was first revealed at the 2009 E3 it had the gaming world fired up. Now the developers behind the game are admitting that they souped up the graphics and that there were real problems getting the title to run right.

Speaking to Kotaku at E3, Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida said, “there were lots of technical issues. The video we showed, the trailer on PS3, was specced up. The game was running at a much lower frame rate… it was clear that the team had to make a compromise.”

The team cut back on the size and scope, as well as the cast of The Last Guardian but they just couldn’t make it work on the PS3. Now that the PS4 is here it looks like Yoshida and his team have figured out how to make it work.
