Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann, co-creator of The Last of Us and creative director on both its games, has been busy in recent weeks and months in Canada with the filming of HBO’s upcoming adaptation of the PlayStation series. As he revealed from a recent tweet though, the filming work involving him seems to have been wrapped up.
Druckmann’s direction on The Last of Us is regarded as highly integral by everyone involved in development of the games, and as such, fans are understandably enough excited to see his directing chops on the TV screen as well. It emerged in September that he would be returning as one of the directors for the TV series as well. The Last of Us HBO series is one of the most heavily anticipated video game adaptations of recent memory, boasting a star-studded cast of Pedro Pascal (as Joel), Bella Ramsey (Ellie), and Anna Torv (Tess) among others.
Druckmann will be returning to Naughty Dog as he leaves Canada (where the filming for the show is being done) and will presumably continue working on future projects at the studio. Leaks suggest that Naughty Dog might be working on a ground-up remake of the original The Last of Us, but it’s unknown how involved Druckmann is with the project, if the leaks are indeed accurate.
