The Walking Dead creator is “impressed” with the game’s “brilliant storytelling”

Robert Kirkman talks about his work's video game adaptation.

Robert Kirkman, creator of the ongoing and highly popular The Walking Dead comic books and one of the executive producers of the TV show that is based on the said comic books, says he is “impressed” with Telltale’s rendition of the universe in video game form, and that he thinks the storytelling is “brilliant”.

When asked by Game Informer about how involved he was with the game’s production, Kirkman said: “With anything Walking Dead, I try to be as involved as I can, which is not always as much as I would like to be. ith The Walking Dead television show, I’m in the writer’s room. I work on that show every day, but I come from comic books. I’m not an expert in TV, so I’m able to allow other people who are experts in television to take the lead and run the show and really do it justice.

“I’ve taken that stance with Telltale,” he continued. “I don’t really know the world of video games as much as they do; I don’t know what works and what doesn’t work, so I’ve been kind of the godfather, saying, “This is what The Walking Dead is about and this is what I think is its secret.” Then they turn all that stuff into a video game.”

He added: “I’ve been kind of hands-off, but I’m impressed with the brilliant storytelling and with how good this game has turned out, which is really a testament to how talented their writers are.”

The last episode in the first season of Telltale’s Walking Dead video game series just came out, and we think it went out with a very touching bang. Read our review of Episode 5- No Time Left here.
