The Witcher: Monster Slayer is Launching for iOS and Android on July 21

CD Projekt and developer Spokko are bringing the free-to-play augmented reality RPG to mobile devices later this month.

CD Projekt announced The Witcher: Monster Slayer last year, promising a game that would blend the series’ trappings with the sort of augmented reality gameplay that Pokemon Go has popularized in the mobile space. It’s now been confirmed when the game is going to launch as well.

The Witcher: Monster Slayer is launching for iOS and Android devices later this month, on July 21. Players will “engage with location-based gameplay and advanced augmented reality features to track down and hunt bloodthirsty monsters lurking nearby.” CD Projekt and developer Spokko are describing it as an augmented reality RPG, so it should be interesting to see how it shapes up.

Meanwhile, pre-registrations for the game are also open on the Google Play Store for Android devices. Anyone who pre-registers will get the Kaer Morhen Steel Sword in the game at launch, which will give a 10% boost to any experience points you earn from killing monsters. You can watch the release date announcement trailer for the game below.

Meanwhile, if you’re waiting for the next mainline Witcher game, you’re probably going to have to keep waiting a while. Though The Witcher 4 is next in line for CD Projekt RED, it’s probably going to be some time before they begin talking about it. Definitely don’t expect an announcement at WitcherCon next week.
