Typically over the last few years, Nintendo have held a Direct presentation at the beginning of each year to announce some of the biggest games they’ve got planned for the coming months. We’re already a month into 2020, and fans have been waiting for a new Direct to get announced. Apparently, they won’t have to wait much longer.
Over on ResetEra, known Nintendo insider Zippo is claiming that there will be not one, but two Nintendo Direct presentations this month. One of these will be general Direct, while one will be focused entirely on the upcoming Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Zippo also says that the general Direct won’t be held this week. As always, take this with a grain of salt, since this is unverified information, but Zippo has generally had a solid track record with Nintendo-related leaks.
So far, Nintendo’s 2020 lineup is looking light, but that could all change with this purported upcoming Direct. A release date for Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition has leaked twice now, so it’s possible that that gets confirmed. Something else that’s been leaked is the next DLC character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – reportedly Crash Bandicoot. Finally, leakers also claim Nintendo will be releasing 2D Metroid and a new Paper Mario for the Switch this year.
