Titanfall 2: Multiplayer Maps Detailed, Will Have Different “Feels And Looks”

Don't just expect a retread of the kinds of maps that characterized the first Titanfall.

In a lot of ways, Titanfall 2 seems to be the game that the original should have been- a realization of that game’s potential and promise, while simultaneously also addressing all the flaws and weaknesses that the first game had. It’s why Titanfall 2 is so exciting, and why we can’t wait for Respawn’s sophomore outing.

However, the one fear many fans have had has been that the new game’s maps will be too similar to the original’s- and certainly, everything we have seen so far seems to suggest as much. However, speaking in an interview with PCGamer, Respawn’s Jon Shiring emphasized that Titanfall 2 will have distinct and differentiated maps.

“So, in the multiplayer trailer that we released today you saw a different map for a good chunk of it,” Shiring said. “It was a big outdoor map. And that one and Boomtown feel very different. Boomtown has nice tight areas, and- in the centre of the map, and again it’s good for this type of an audience. It’s a really fun map too, so a lot of it’s trying to figure out for, like, what mode, what map are the right combos to do for this event. Yeah, we have a lot of other maps coming, or a good chunk of them, and they all have different feels and looks.”

That sounds good to me, and honestly does lay a pretty major concern I had with the game to rest. Titanfall 2 is due out later this year on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
