Total War: Warhammer Will Support Mods at Launch

The Creative Assembly confirms Assembly Kit and Steam Workshop mods at launch.

The Creative Assembly’s Total War: Warhammer will support mods at launch according to Sega. Support extends to the Assembly Kit and Steam Workshop and the developer will be working with modders to ensure their mods release “day and date with the game.”

Though not initially pegged to support mods, the developer worked with Games Workshop (Warhammer’s creator) to make it happen. When the game releases, players can visit the Steam Workshop to install mods directly, managing them through the Total War Mod Manager. The Assembly Kit will also release with Database Editor and BOB to allow modification and export of database tables and starting positions in campaigns. Battle map editing is expected to arrive as a feature later.

Creative Assembly’s Mod Summits will also have early access to the game to help launch mods as soon as the game is available. Noted modders like Magnar are working on the Legendary Lord Start Position Mod to change starting positions for Legendary Lords from Race Leaders.

Total War: Warhammer is out for PC on May 24th.
