Frozenbyte may not have the most stellar release with Trine 3: Artifacts of Power but it’s currently working its way back up the mountain with Shadwen, a stealth title that looks to bring the genre back to its basics. In the meantime, GamingBolt spoke to marketing manager Kai Tuovinen and discussed upcoming plans for Trine 3 and the developer’s thoughts on the state of current gen visuals and PS2 emulation on the PS4.
First off, those waiting for Trine 3 on the Xbox One will need to cool their jets. “No Xbox news to report, it’s not in development at the moment,” according to Tuovinen.
Regarding the on-going debate about resolution and frame rate on the PS4 and Xbox One, especially as few titles continue to hit 60 FPS and 1080p resolution, Tuovinen said that, “From what I’ve seen, games on both consoles look really good and there aren’t too many differences generally, but if possible I’d always look to optimize for 60fps and 1080p or better.”
As for PS2 emulation on the PS4 and whether it was a good idea for Sony to have consumers purchase digital versions of games they already own, Tuovinen stated, “I think it’s only fair not to charge people for something that they’ve already bought, but since I don’t know much about this subject, there could be some technical things making the verification difficult.”
