Ubisoft Confirms uPlay 4.0 for PC, Includes Twitch Integration

Ubisoft's platform is evolving.

Ubisoft’s uPlay platform for PC is evolving, as it enters version number 4.0. uPlay, which is Ubisoft’s digital distribution/social gaming/rewards program for its games across all systems, will be offering a host of new, innovative features to players- the integration of the video platform Twitch, for instance, to share gameplay streams and videos live. In addition, an improved download manager allows for the progressive download of games and auto-patching, meaning that gamers can spend more time playing. And a new social wall keeps members up-to-date on their friends’ activities.

uPlay 4.0 will also be coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and by simply logging in, players will be able to experience the full scope of everything that uPlay is supposed to offer. It is currently already available in some form or the other on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, and tablets and smartphones.

Ubisoft also confirmed that its Uplay Win program, which allows gamers to redeem real rewards for in game achievements, will be available on uPlay across all platforms, and will be included in Ubisoft’s slate of highly anticipated upcoming games for the rest of the year, including Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Watch Dogs, and Just Dance 2014.
