Ubisoft Employee Teases New Prince of Persia Ahead of E3

What's next for PoP?

Okay, it’s official- Prince of Persia is not dead. Ubisoft definitely have something planned for the popular, long running franchise. But what exactly is it? Well, that’s what one of Ubisoft’s employees was asking us, using the cryptic question as a hint for a future announcement. Unfortunately, though, soon after he posted that tweet, his account was taken down.

Taking to Twitter ahead of the imminent E3, which is just weeks away now, Drew James posted the image given above on its official Twitter account, showing the several incarnations of Prince of Persia over the years, with a question mark in the fifth panel, to indicate any future iterations. The tweet was also copied to Ubisoft Reflections and Ubisoft Toronto boss Jade Raymond. The tweet itself said, “What next for #Prince of Persia?”

Soon after this, though, his account was brought offline.

Just a few days back, a report claimed that a new PoP game was in development and that, surprisingly, it would be a 2D side scroller, going back to the series’ roots, and was being developing using the Rayman Legends engine.

The last major installment in the series was back in 2008. However, we did get Forgotten Sands in 2010, even if it was more of a spinoff. Either way, a new PoP title is long overdue.

Stay tuned, we’ll keep you updated.
