Ubisoft is one company that is getting ready for the upcoming storm of VR titles. While virtual reality is still a very new gaming technology in its current form, Ubisoft believes the PlayStation VR will indeed become quite a cash cow. This is why the firm has confirmed it’s working on more than one game, despite the fact its hedging it bets, saying it won’t go “all in” on the tech just yet.
The company says it’s going to be dedicating its “big engines” to the upcoming games. The company has said it will be release a couple of PS VR games this year and there will be at least one “surprise” game released next year.
“We continue to be very interested in VR. We are going to launch a few games this year, we don’t expect them to do big revenue, but we have good experiences there. So we’ll surprise a few people. In Q3 we’ll announce a new title that’s promising. Yes, VR is coming, we are active and Sony is doing a good job in presenting PlayStation VR, and we see a good momentum,” Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said in a recent earnings call.
