Ubisoft Open To Delaying Games Further If PS5/Xbox Series X Are Pushed Back

It seems the company is looking to coordinate with next gen as much as possible.

One of the biggest video game publishers out there, Ubisoft, has been something on the quiet side recently. After the apparent massive failure of Ghost Recon Breakpoint, something that allegedly caused huge restructuring behind the scenes. It seems part of that is they are looking to coordinate with next generation console release, even to the point they will delay their games forward.

In a piece from the New York Times, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot commented on current video game production, and when talking about next generation consoles, said Ubisoft would be willing to delay their games if Sony and Microsoft’s time table does slip. They have staff working remotely at home either way, helping with flexibility with the company’s schedule.

“We are not seeing significant impact to our own timelines, but we are in touch with all our partners and if there’s a need to adjust in order to do what’s best for them and for our players, we will do so,” he said.

Ubisoft already delayed a large slate of their titles at the end of last year, such as Watch Dogs Legion, to indefinite timelines. It seems Ubisoft is looking to be one of the first on that next gen train. So let’s hope that will end up being this year.
