Ubisoft pitching Ghost Recon movie

Could it work?

Ubisoft has been pushing its games to get adapted into proper movies recently. After confirmed news that Michael Fassbender will be in the Assassin’s Creed movie and that Tom Hardy will be in the Splinter Cell movie, reports are now emerging that Ubisoft is also working on a Ghost Recon motion picture.

According to a report in the LA Times, Ubisoft Motion Pictures’ chief executive Jean-Julien Baronnet is working around with the idea. He is, according to the report, “putting together a pitch for a movie based on the Ghost Recon games about a special operations military squad.”

It would be interesting if it did happen, because Ghost Recon games are never about their stories or their characters or backstories or storytelling. So having a Ghost Recon movie would be an intriguing project.

To give you a taste of what it would be like, you can check out the 25-minute live action short film released by Ubisoft earlier in 2012 to promote the release of Future Soldier.
