In the age of the remasters, it should come as no surprise there appears to be another one incoming. On December 11, Ubisoft registered itself a domain named Assassin’s Creed Collection. While the company has been extremely quiet about just what the point of this website is, we can certainly draw our own conclusions. Anytime “collection” is included in the title of a game in this day and age, it’s a safe bet we’re about to see some old games make their way to the current consoles.
Whether this is indeed a remaster is just conjecture at this point but we do know Ubisoft is the one who purchased this domain and they did it extremely recently. The website is very, very bare right now, so it doesn’t seem as though an announcement is going to be coming really soon, but we’d expect something after the new year. It’s of course possible the reason there’s literally nothing there just yet is because this was just a “need all websites with Assassin’s Creed in its name” kind of move, but the fact the company just purchased it last week seems to undercut that argument.
It would make sense for Ubisoft to bring a remastered collection to the PS4 and Xbox One. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, the latest title in the series got decent enough reviews that it helped repair the franchise’s reputation after the disaster that was Unity. There are also plenty of new fans of the series who have never gotten their hands on some of the more popular earlier iterations. We’ll have to wait and see what becomes of the Assassin’s Creed Collection domain.
