Director Seth Gordon, who has been attached to the Uncharted movie project, has been working on ‘The Goldberg’ as well as the NBC TV series ‘Marry Me’, but he confirms that he is going to start the Uncharted movie project in early 2015.
“I’m doing several of these [‘Marry Me’ episodes] here this summer. ‘Goldbergs’ too,” Gordon told Zap2it. “I tried to do a chunk at the beginning, and I want to do a chunk here too. It just depends when our actual [‘Uncharted’] start date is actually declared, and then I’ll back out as many episodes as I can do. I’m doing one ‘Goldbergs’ and two of these presently, and I’m hoping to do more.”
“I think very early next year. That’s the plan. That’s like tomorrow, essentially, because the prep is so complicated for the movie. The setting for the movie will be very international… all over the world.”
Speaking of who will be cast to play Nathan Drake, Gordon said, “I want it to be a great actor. That’s number one, and then if it’s someone who has an actual jaw, that’s even better. The game is so well done that you need it to live up to that. There’s no way we’d do the inverse of that where it’s somebody famous who can’t [act].” Previously, Mark Wahlberg was cast as Drake.
The upcoming Uncharted movie is just one of a line of big name video game to movie adaptations planned; other high profile projects include Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell.
