Unicorn Overlord Has Over 100 Hours of Content

Those following the main quests can finish it in about 50 hours, but doing everything, including the side quests, takes 100 hours.

Claiming your game has 100 hours of content is all the rage lately. Larian Studios said a typical playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3 would take about 75 to 100 hours for standard playthrough. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth creative director Tetsuya Nomura promised 100 hours of content for the follow-up.

On cue, game designer Wataru Nakanishi confirmed over 100 hours of playtime for Unicorn Overlord, Vanillaware’s upcoming fantasy tactical RPG. Speaking to Famitsu (translation via DeepL), he said, “If you just follow the main quests, it will take about 50 hours, and if you play the entire game, including the sub-quests, it will take more than 100 hours.”

However, given the freedom players have, that playtime can vary wildly. “When we did in-house test play, the game took more than 100 hours across the board, and one person completed the game in 40 hours, even playing it for the first time.” It seemingly comes down to how much the player wants to experience.

Unicorn Overlord launches on March 8th, 2024, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. It’s set on the continent of Fevrith, with various races like humans, Elves, Angels, Bestrals and more co-existing. After a war erupts, Alain, the prince of Cornia, must wield the Ring of the Unicorn and rebel against General Valmore.
