Valorant, Formerly Project A, Revealed – 5v5 Shooter Mixes Overwatch and CS:GO

Riot Games' first multiplayer shooter is scheduled to release in Summer.

Riot Games has finally revealed Project A, it’s upcoming team-based multiplayer shooter, as Valorant. The gameplay sees two teams of five players battling it out with both abilities and tactical weapons to see who can win 13 rounds first. Check out the alpha gameplay preview below for a better idea of how it works.

Valorant features several different characters, each with their own abilities akin to hero shooters like Overwatch. However, players can also use weapons like assault rifles and sniper rifles, which are purchased before each round like in Counter-Strike: GO. Riot is currently aiming for 35 ms ping in bigger cities with 128 Hz tickrate servers and up to 144 fps frame rates.

The development team is also working to ensure a solid anti-cheat system along with a good number of datacentres for players to connect. Valorant will be a free to play title and launch sometime in Summer. There will be a closed beta first so stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
