Valve Brings 13 Steam Machines to CES

And they run the full range of specs and prices.

Valve brought thirteen Steam Machines with it to CES; it was an impressive array of designs, and they seem to range wildly in their asking price and specs, but in general, they seem to be covering a full range of prices here.

Valve chose not to announce release dates for any of the Steam Machines, as it preferred to let the individual manufacturers do that themselves. They also confirmed that manufacturers will be making their own versions of the rather divisive Steam Controller (as long as they meet Valve’s specifications), although they did confirm that they will still be making one of their own.

Valve also refused to confirm or deny plans to make their own model of the Steam Machine, merely stating that they have not ruled plans out yet. They might decide to manufacture one as the flagship model, similar to how Google approaches Android with its Nexus devices.
