Valve’s just released documentary about Dota 2, competitive gaming, and three professional players across the world who play the game competitively, ‘Free to Play’, has apparently broken records in its first weekend- it has been viewed by over 5.5 million viewers during its opening weekend, making it one of the largest debuts of any documentary film.
‘Free to Play’ is available on Steam, iTunes, Youtube, Twitch, and other online platforms- it has been received unanimously well by both the press and the critics, with a current iMDB score of 9.3 (out of a possible 10).
‘Free to Play’ was created internally at Valve- takes an intimate look into the lives of three professional computer gamers, who are preparing to play for the first $1 million prize ever awarded in pro gaming. The game in question in this case is Dota 2, Valve’s MOBA that remains one of the world’s most played games with over 7 million active players monthly.
