Konami is bringing Silent Hill back, and it if leaks are to be believed, other franchises will be following in its footsteps. Reports have claimed that the Japanese company has tapped up Singapore-based studio Virtuos to develop ground-up remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and evidence continues to suggest that that might indeed be accurate.
Virtuos’ official website, for instance, lists Konami as a recent client. Meanwhile, the studio also lists on its website that it has experience with the Fox Engine. The engine was used to develop Metal Gear Solid 5. Of course, neither of those two points explicitly point to a Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, though combined with other recent developments, it does raise some eyebrows.
For instance, in October of last year, it was reported that the LinkedIn page of a former Virtuos employee mentioned that the studio was working on an unannounced AAA action-adventure remake. More recently, a Metal Gear Solid artbook was spotted by keen-eyed fans in a recruitment video uploaded by Virtuos.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on this, so make sure to stay tuned for further updates.
