Watch_Dogs Series Isn’t “Exactly” Dead – Rumor

Insider shinobi602 pushes back against reports that the franchise is dead (and isn't talking about the upcoming movie either).

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake cancelled (despite allegedly being almost finished), Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced allegedly delayed (despite…also apparently being finished) – it’s a tough time to be a Ubisoft fan. Then again, at least both IPs have had projects to look forward to. Watch_Dogs fans have been left treading water since 2020’s Watch Dogs: Legion.

However, the franchise – or at least the company’s interest in it – may not be completely dead. Despite Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson recently stating this on his podcast, industry insider shinobi602 responded on ResetEra, “Not exactly.”

Well, sure, because that Watch_Dogs movie is still in production (which Henderson also noted). But when asked if he was referring to this or games, shinobi602 replied, “I am not talking about a movie.” Of course, he didn’t clarify specifically what he meant.

Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean Ubisoft is going to pull back the covers on Watch_Dogs 4: The Search for Aiden Pearce. Outside of a game, it could mean 60 FPS updates for the current trilogy, similar to what Far Cry 3 Classic Edition, Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon Classic Edition, and Far Cry Primal received on consoles recently. It’s difficult to say, but even if it wasn’t mentioned as part of Ubisoft’s big organizational reset, Watch_Dogs may be more in limbo than outright “gone.”
