With the threat of mobile gaming growing and the handheld gaming market becoming more precarious everyday, Sony’s going to take steps to make sure that the PS Vita sustains quality and price. They’ll be selling game at multiple price points for the system, but premium pricing will be maintained.
“I think it would be safe to assume we will take a more tailored approach than perhaps we’ve done in the past,” PlayStation Europe boss Jim Ryan told GamesIndustry.biz.
“It’s our challenge to ensure that the gaming experience that we provide is closer to that TV console experience than it is to your 69p thing that you’ve downloaded on your iPhone.
“If we do that and we provide great value to the consumer on games like Uncharted, I think the possibility to sustain historic console type price points is there.”
Earlier, Ryan admitted that Sony did not market the PSP properly, and discussed what things the company did wrong with their first handheld, and how they look to improve upon that with Vita.
