Sony had originally announced that it would be shipping a white SKU of the PlayStation 4 to be sold in a bundle with Bungie’s Destiny when the game launched on September 9th worldwide. However, President of Worldwide Studios for SCE Shuhei Yoshida told Game One (via CVG) that the white model would be available as a standalone console by 2014 end.
This could indicate a Holiday 2014 release, which seems like a good day for keeping Sony relevant in a year where it doesn’t have a lot of exclusives to lean on like the Xbox One. Currently, all its big hitters – like Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and The Order: 1886 – are slated for release next year. The two big releases for the PS4 from October onwards are DriveClub and LittleBigPlanet 3, both which have received some good press up till this point.
