Wii U software sales “behind launch levels for Gamecube and Wii”- Analyst

Analyst says Wii U's software sale levels are low.

Cowen & Company analyst Doug Creutz says that the Wii U’s software sales in the US are “struggling a bit” and that they are actually lower than what the Gamecube and the Wii had when they launched in their times.

“Software sales for the Wii U remained well behind launch levels for the original Wii and GameCube in December,” said Creutz. “Totals for the November-December period were -43% lower than software sales for the Wii and -50% lower than those for the GameCube.”

However, the Wii U did gather more revenue than the Wii did in a similar amount of time, and Nintendo’s new console’s decent performance in December’s NPD figures results in a rise in Nintendo’s stock.

Some analysts are also saying that the system itself is selling low, but Nintendo boss Satoru Iwata is satisfied with how the system has performed so far in the market.
