World of Warcraft Attacked by Trojan Compromising Accounts

Currently no anti-virus programs that will remove it.

A “dangerous Trojan” is apparently doing the rounds on World of Warcraft according to Blizzard Entertainment, one that attacks in “real-time” to bypass the dev’s authenticator. It works by stealing both player password information and the authenticator password in order to gain access.

“We are currently looking for more information on the Trojan. We have not been able to locate any anti-virus programs that will remove it besides just reformatting your system.”

The dev advises against clicking on any links from Blizzard in your spam folder and that the trojan’s origin is still vague. If you find it on your system, Blizzard advises you to reply to this forum thread with your system MSInfo and any add-ons or programs you may have recently picked up.

Have you recently been a victim of the trojan or found indications of the same in your email? Let us know in the comments below. And to think that Blizzard is already suffering due to DDoS attacks on the Battle.net servers.
