THQ Nordic and Bugbear Entertainment recently released a patch for their high octane racing title Wreckfest that added support for 4K and 60 FPS on Xbox Series X and 4K and 30 FPS on Xbox Series S– but it seems they aren’t done just yet as far as next-gen updates for the racer are concerned.
It’s been confirmed that Wreckfest will be releasing on PS5 on June 1 with a native version. The upgrade will bring support for 24 players in multiplayer races, dynamic dirt on vehicles, increased amount of foliage, higher resolution textures, new visual effects for skidmarks, godrays, and improvements to shadows, particles, and environment lighting. You can also expect support for the DualSense’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, in addition to significantly faster load times.
Meanwhile, Wreckfest will also be seeing a similar release on Xbox Series X/S. That will be coming later in the year, but no specific release date for that has been shared yet.
There is a catch though- there is no free next-gen upgrade option. If you already own a last-gen copy of Wreckfest, you’ll need to pay $9.99 / €9.99 to upgrade to the next-gen version.
Wreckfest is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
