Count on Pach to have something intriguing to say. Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter recently spoke at SXSW Interactive and talked about how the PS4 and Xbox 720 would both retail for roughly $599. He also added that Microsoft would win the next generation though the PS4 would have a strong showing.
Keep in mind that these are under “predictions” so Pachter is clearly saying it’s only his opinion. Microsoft will win the next generation because “the TV tuner and Skype are killer apps” which will “lend to subsidies from MSOs and ISPs”. Sony was described as “still playing catch-up, but content and Gaikai are advantages”.
Other interesting predictions including no more publishers being lost to bankruptcy, consolidation and the PC as a gaming device making a comeback. Considering that Valve and their so-called living room PC Steam Box is arriving this year, we wouldn’t say that’s too far-fetched. Let us know what you think though, in the comments below.
