The Xbox One X seems to have been surprisingly far more successful than many would have given it credit for- extremely impressive, given its $500 price point. In the UK, especially, it has managed to outsell the PS4 Pro’s launch, and matched the Switch launch.
This success has led to many reassessing their ideas of how they feel the system might do. One of those people is Mat Piscatella, who, speaking on Twitter, made note of the Xbox One X’s stronger than expected performance in the UK, and admitted that he would be raising his forecast for its sales performance in the US higher too, as a result.
This is, on the whole, good news- the Xbox One X is a fantastic piece of engineering, and in spite of my reservations about it (owing to its price, and a question about who it is aimed for), it is clear that it has found itself a market. I hope it continues to sustain this performance going forward.
