After plenty of leaks and speculation, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was finally officially unveiled during the last Nintendo Direct, with the Japanese publisher showing off Monolith Soft’s upcoming action RPG in what was quite packed reveal trailer. New details on the game have also arrived since then, thanks to its official UK page.
As previously confirmed by Nintendo, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will “bring together the futures of Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles 2“. Set in the world of Aionios, the upcoming sequel’s story will revolve around two warring nations- Keves, a nation that uses highly advanced mechanical technology, and Agnus, a nation that’s stronger in ether, a magical technology.
The core cast of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will focus on six characters, all hailing from these two nations, and two of whom will be the game’s central protagonists. One of those is Noah, a Keves soldier who’s described as an “‘off-seer’ who mourns for soldiers who’ve lost their lives on the battlefield.” The second protagonist is Mio, a soldier of Agnus, and another off-seer.
Both Noah and Mio will also bring two allies apiece along with them. With the former there’s Lanz, who wields a greatsword that, interestingly enough, doubles as a shield, and Eunie, who specializes in healing and is described as having “a sharp tongue and rough personality.” Meanwhile, Mio’s allies Taion – who uses “his smarts and insight” as a tactician in battles – and Sena – a seemingly diminutive but deceptively strong soldier – will also be along for the adventure.
A bunch of new screenshots from the game, all taken from its recent announcement trailer, have also been revealed. Check them out below.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is due out in September for Nintendo Switch.
