Yakuza 6 Gets 11 Minutes of New Gameplay Footage

Emergent gameplay possibilities abound.

The upcoming demo for Yakuza 6, which is going to be made available alongside the release of Yakuza Kiwami, which in turn is a full remake from the ground up of the original Yakuza game, has basically been uploaded online. If you want to see what the newest entry in Sega’s long running crime simulator is like, you can check out the new footage for yourself below.

The demo was shown off by series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi, who also commentates over the gameplay footage, on Nico Nico, later uploaded to YouTube. This specific portion of the demo shows off the new AI in the game, and how AI companions are more spontaneous. AI companions can join your fights now and help you out, which is a brand new feature for the franchise, and which lends itself to potential for emergent gameplay.

Yakuza Kiwami is out now in Japan on PS4 and PS4. Yakuza 6 will be a PS4 only release, and it will launch in Japan later this year. Neither have yet received any details on a possible western release.
