Mojang has announced that Minecraft sold a boatload of copies on Christmas Eve, December 24th last year. Yes, 2012 is last year now.
Minecraft sold a total of 453,000 copies across all platforms on Christmas Eve. Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson said on Twitter: “Across all platforms, Minecraft sold 453k copies on dec 24! Wowzers!”
That makes it 8.7 million Minecraft copies on the PC, 4 million copies on the Xbox 360 and 5 million copies on iOS devices, which brings the total up to nearly 18 million copies of the game sold across all platforms since its first release. This is all based on data provided by Minecraft’s official site.
Minecraft recently got a massive update for the Xbox 360 version, but some of the features the update introduced failed to show up in the game. 4J Games are releasing a new fix to work on this issue.
