A Way Out seems to be the perfect game for the Nintendo Switch, if you think about it- it’s a game that is emphasizing co-op gameplay and communication between its players for a shared experience, which is exactly what the Nintendo Switch hardware is designed to facilitate.
But as of right now, the game does not have a Switch version announced- why is that so? Was it because of the system’s power, or more because of its online functionality? Or was it something else entirely? In an exclusive interview with GamingBolt, director Josef Fares told us that, quite truthfully, they hadn’t had a chance to explore the Switch yet, being a small team who already have their hands full.
“First of all, this is a third person game, which means that you need to control the camera… and on the Switch, if you want to play it on the Joycons, you can’t have the camera controls, because the Switch only has one stick on each controller,” Fares said. “But there’s… we haven’t really explored the Switch, so I’m not saying it’s not going to happen. But it’s just that we are a small team and we’re doing everything in-house, which makes it very hard for us to have the time… but I’m not saying it will never happen.
When we asked him if a Switch version after the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions might be a possibility, Fares said it might happen if they have the time, but it was also something that he isn’t willing to commit to.
A Way Out launches on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on March 22, 2018.
