The month of June is traditionally one of big news for the gaming industry. Traditionally, it sees the beginning of E3, which kicks off a long line of conferences and events from all the major entities in the gaming world. Alas, this year is very different for a variety of reasons, with more focus from individual players on smaller digital events that will be scattered through the summer. Well, Microsoft still has plans and their GM of Marketing says it’s still going according to plan, regardless of what you’ve heard.
Aaron Greenberg took to his official Twitter to respond to some rumors that events have been delayed. Specifically, he’s referring to a article from our friends at VG24/7 about an unannounced event that was pushed back to August (this was supposedly the official unveiling of Xbox Lockhart, which you can read about through here). Greenberg says that nothing has been pushed back, and that the next digital show is set for July as planned.
Just for some degree of clarity, the Lockhart reveal mentioned above was supposedly an unannounced event in June, separate from the July showcase. It isn’t entirely clear if Greenberg is directly contradicting that report or not, but either way, the July event is still seemingly on track either way, so we’ll keep you updated on the news that trickles out from there.
