Aaron Greenberg Touts Current Gen Console Sales, Xbox 1st Party Game Sales Up 72% YoY

Also said Microsoft has seen first party game sales increase 72 percent from last year.

Aaron Greenberg has been quite active on Twitter the last couple of days, apparently wrapping up a few things as 2015 comes to an end. It wasn’t that long ago he was talking about how happy he was to be apart of the Xbox team. He also talked about the recent successes of Microsoft in general and the console market in particular over the last couple of years.

On Twitter Greenberg announced that first party software sales by Microsoft are actually up 72 percent year over year. That would seem to indicate that Microsoft is doing something right when it comes to the games the company is putting out. Of course, those numbers are likely greatly helped by the launch of Halo 5 this year as well as a couple of other big name games such as Rise of the Tomb Raider.

On a broader scale, Microsoft isn’t close to the only company that is seeing real success in the video game world and Greenberg, apparently aware that it benefits everyone if the video game market is strong, was even willing to congratulate Sony on their success with the PS4. “Congrats to my friends over @PlayStation on great NPD sales in Nov, gamers bought over 3M #XboxOne & #PS4 consoles in one month. Wow!” He  posted. Greenberg later explained the 3 million was also including the Wii U, though the Xbox One and the PS4 were making up more than 2.8 million of those units sold. It looks like the future is bright for consoles as we head into 2016.
