Activision Blizzard has been the subject of flurry of controversies over the last year, and in the aftermath, the company has been taking measures to make much-needed improvements to its work culture. As part of that, as recently announced in a press release, the gaming giant has appointed a chief equity, diversity, and inclusion officer.
Taking up the role will be Kristen Hines, who will start reporting from April 25 to the chief people officer, Julie Hodges. Hines will be ensuring that all communities and genders are represented equally and treated fairly in the studio premises. Activision Blizzard aims to increase the number of women and non-binary employees by 50% over the next 5 years.

With the publishing giant soon to be acquired by Microsoft, many are hoping to see positive changes coming to the company’s culture. Hopefully more significant improvements will continue to be made and acted upon.
