An Unannounced Xbox One Game Will Use The Cloud For Physics Simulation

'Titanfall doesn't even come close to what the cloud can offer.'

Microsoft made a great deal about the power of the cloud back when the Xbox One was first unveiled, but then, for good or for bad, they haven’t actually done a whole lot with it since, outside of the Drivetar system in the Forza games. Apparently, the upcoming Crackdown game is supposed to use the cloud to power its destructibility to some degree, and from what we gather, a new, all new unannounced Xbox One game will also be using Microsoft’s Azure (their cloud service) to power physics simulations in game.

This information comes to us from someone working on this game, who recently posted on NeoGAF. This is what he had to say:

“We are building our new game strongly with Azure in mind for physic calculations (currently for vegetation, grass, water being manipulated by wind and objects, which would not be easy [impossible] to do with local power only). We are so happy with it that we are currently thinking about going all-in and make the game kind of addicted to Azure.”

He also said that so far, no existing Xbox One game has actually even begun to touch upon the possibility of the cloud and what it can offer- he said Titanfall was just a scratch on the surface.

As for when this new game will be announced, well that’s anyone’s guess, but we will keep you posted.
