Animal Crossing: New Horizons Retakes Top Spot in UK Charts (Again)

The Switch exclusive sees a massive boost in sales.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been at or around the top of the UK weekly charts for boxed video game sales for few weeks now (and has been swapping places with FIFA 20 for a couple of weeks as well), and this week sees it returning to the top of the charts again, enjoying a 135 per cent week-over-week increase in sales thanks to renewed physical stocks (via GamesIndustry).

FIFA 20, which topped charts last week, has slipped down to third place, while Grand Theft Auto 5, thanks to a 47 per cent boost in sales, jumps up three places to the second spot. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe follow in the fourth and fifth spot respectively, while Final Fantasy 7 Remake has slipped out of the top 10 for the first time since its launch.

Returning to the top 10 are Minecraft for the Nintendo Switch – up from eleventh place – and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe – up from the 22nd spot. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Luigi’s Mansion 3, and Red Dead Redemption 2 round out the rest of the top 10.
