Anonymous EA Employee Criticizes SimCity Launch: “We Should Be Better Than This”

Criticism of Maxis' latest city simulator isn't limited to gamers.

An anonymous employee, claiming to be part of Electronic Arts, has lashed out at the company for its bungled launch of Maxis’ SimCity.

Posting on Reddit, the anonymous employee stated that, “I am deeply embarrassed by the troubled launch of Sim City and I hope you are too.

“When I walk around our campus and look at the kind of talent we’ve collected, the amenities we have access to and the opportunities working at such a big company affords us, I can’t imagine how for release after release, EA continues to make the same embarrassing, anti-consumer mistakes.

He (or she) is referring to the always-online status and DRM that EA implemented. Thanks to server issues such as excessive load, gamers have been shut out of the game at launch.

“We should be better than this. You should not be failing us so badly.” As proof of his status, he mentioned an email celebrating International Women’s Day at the company. Later, the entry was deleted.

Whether it’s true or false, no one can deny that the gamers are at the gates for SimCity.
