After being served a cease and desist by Nintendo to stop working on Another Metroid 2 Remake or AM2R, which is essentially a fan-made game that looked to recreate the classic Game Boy title, developer Milton Guasti has revealed his involvement in an even bigger project.
On Twitter, Guasti noted that he had joined Moon Studios to developer Ori and The Will of The Wisps, the sequel to Ori and the Blind Forest that will be coming to Xbox One, Xbox One X and Windows 10 next year.
The cancellation of AM2R occurred last year and given Nintendo’s announcement of Metroid: Samus Returns, a Metroid 2 remake for 3DS, the reason becomes even clearer. And while it may not seem like AM2R and Ori have much in common, the latter is actually a Metroidvania title that uses many of the same aspects of exploration and puzzle solving that Metroid so famous.
Ori and The Will of The Wisps doesn’t currently have a release date but it’s good to see Guasti transitioning to something he loves after the whole AM2R kerfuffle.
