Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that Apex Legends will release for Nintendo Switch on March 9th. Along with support for cross-play, it will also include the latest content, including the recently launched Season 8: Mayhem. Since the Switch version is coming several weeks later, Battle Pass owners will receive 30 free levels on the platform to help catch up.
This will be in addition to two weeks of double XP for the Switch version. Interestingly, Respawn revealed that Panic Button – which brought DOOM Eternal, Warframe, and many other big titles to the Switch – was responsible for the porting process. Director Chad Grenier noted, “Porting Apex Legends to its smallest screen yet is a major achievement, and we couldn’t have done it without our friends at Panic Button. We’re very proud of what the team has been able to achieve with some smart optimizations for the Switch port to deliver a full-featured Apex Legends experience on the go.”
Though Electronic Arts didn’t outright confirm the same, Apex Legends Champion Edition will also be coming to the Switch, listing on EB Games Australia (discovered by JP’s Switchmania on Twitter) indicated the same. However, despite including nine unlocked Legends, exclusive Legendary skins and Apex Coins, it doesn’t actually have a physical cartridge. Instead, one must redeem a digital code for the contents.
