Apex Legends – Cross-Platform Play Arrives on October 6th

Xbox One and PS4 players can play together at last.

Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends is getting the Aftermath Collection Event on October 6th, bringing a new limited time mode and cosmetics to earn. However, cross-platform play is also launching on the same day. The feature will roll out in beta form and doesn’t include cross-progression.

Cross-platform play also applies to Xbox One and PS4 players with PC players still playing against each. If a console player parties with a PC player, then they’ll be matched with other PC players. This is to ensure that keyboard and mouse players don’t stomp those on consoles.

Cross-play can be disabled but it could lead to “very, very long” queue times since others need to have it disabled as well. The feature will be enabled from the start and Respawn recommends leaving it on “to ensure the best experience possible.” Parties across various platforms can also communicate using voice chat in-game.

With cross-play coming up very soon, we’re still waiting for the Nintendo Switch and Steam versions to release. Stay tuned for more details on that front in the coming months.
