Apex Legends launched earlier today, but what exactly is it? You can, like so many other people, attempt to go to Twitch to see the game in action and figure it out, but Respawn and EA themselves have put out a short gameplay deep dive video to make it easier for you.
Essentially, this video, which you can see for yourself below, tells you what to expect from Apex Legends in terms of how it is structured and how it plays. Titans and wall-running, signature mechanics of the Titanfall series, are gone, but the game appears to retain the tight gunplay that you would expect from a Respawn game.
In terms of battle royale, there are 20 teams of three players each, for a total of 60 players on the map—you need to emerge victorious over them while working with your team. The team based mechanic promises to add a new angle to proceedings over other battle royale games, which, while having team modes themselves, mostly are solo affairs. The game also has elements of hero shooters like Overwatch within it, adding another layer of variation.
Apex Legends is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. For now, this game is it as far as the Titanfall universe goes, so do make sure to check it out if you are a fan of the series.
