Developer Respawn has announced that Apex Legends Mobile will be shutting down. The studio has revealed that the decision is being made because of a lack of quality, quantity, and cadence in the new content coming to Apex Legends Mobile.
The studio has also released a statement announcing plans to sunset the game on Twitter.
“Our gratitude to our players and teams for joining us on Apex Legends Mobile, even if for a short while, is unending,” says the statement. “From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.”
Apex Legends Mobile has now kicked off its 90-day window of sunsetting. The game is slated to be no longer playable in all regions on May 1, at 4pm PDT.
Purchases made through the mobile battle royale will remain available to players to enjoy throughout the sunsetting period of the game. Respawn has revealed that players will not be getting a refund for any purchases made in the game.
In an FAQ about the end of life for Apex Legends Mobile, Respawn has stated that this will not effect development of content for Apex Legends on PC and consoles, and that the studio will be revealing plans for updates in the future.
