While the Assassin’s Creed franchise has become a yearly event along the likes of the Call of Duty franchise and the seemingly endless number of sports video games, a new rumor started circulating this week that would mean the franchise is skipping 2016 entirely. Instead, the next game won’t be coming out until 2017, if the rumors can be believed and the structure and physics of the game might be getting a bit of an overhaul.
Of course, the rumors surrounding an Assassin’s Creed game that would take place in Egypt are coming from the 4Chan community at this point, so we should definitely take them with a giant grain of salt. The rumors talk about a video from an previously untitled Ubisoft game titled Osiris that surfaced a few years ago. At the time it surfaced most people thought it was a new Prince of Persia game but that talk has now shifted. “Egypt. There won’t be an AC in 2016. You may screencap this [the video] and refer to it when nothing is shown in E3 2016. You’ll have to wait until 2017 for it. The reason: It will be a complete revamp of the series. The game is going for a Witcher feel, with player progression, freeform combat system. Horse is back, and boats too. It’s made by the Black Flag team. You may leave any question you want answered,” the post said.
Of course, there is going to be a kind of AC game this year even if its not a full version. The full Assassin’s Creed: Chronicles is going live later this year.
