Assassin’s Creed Origins Gigantic World is Detailed in New Video

And thankfully it has a ton of stuff to do according to Ubisoft.

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Origins is the return of the series after a year’s break and will head to Ancient Egypt for an origin tale. Despite what you may think of the combat and gameplay mechanics, there’s no doubting that the world is absolutely massive. In a new video, director Ashraf Ismail talks about how the world compares to Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag.

He notes that this is “the series’ biggest world yet” and that though the map size is roughly the same as Black Flag, there’s much more land mass to be explored. “[The world] is much, much more dense. This is definitely – in terms of content – the biggest world we’ve ever built. [In terms of exploration] we wanted people to be lost in this world for hours and hours. So the game is quite huge. The world is massive.”

UbiBlog editor Mikel Reperaz also talked about how the game’s quests and adventures are discovered naturally. “You’ll need to discover the game’s quests on your own,” he noted. It’s not too strange to discover new things while taking care of other business. As illustrated in a previous gameplay demo, players could discover a pyramid during a quest that they could later come back and loot

Assassin’s Creed Origins will still feature the same political and historical drama that we’ve come to like about the series but the combat, exploration and world-building have been updated to keep pace with the times. The game is out on October 27th for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
