Assassin’s Creed Origins May Be Set During 5th Dynasty of Ancient Egypt, May Feature Queen Khenut

Also assassinating the crocodile is a thing.

A off-screen image for Assassin’s Creed: Origins, the rumoured next title in the series, has been making the rounds and more or less indicated the visual style that Ubisoft is going for. However, the image also revealed some additional information.

In the objectives seen in the top left corner, there’s “Follow Shady to Khenut’s Villa”. Khenut was a queen in Egypt during the Fifth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom, which ruled from 2494 to 2345 BC. So right away this indicates the time and overall setting of the game. It’s also worth noting that Khenut was the final ruler of the dynasty with the economy overall decline. Perhaps that plays a part in the story?

Also, the image says to “assassinate the crocodile” for some reason. Guess the Templars originated from far more primitive species than we thought. Assassin’s Creed: Origins will apparently be out this year for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. What are your thoughts on the recent image? Let us know below.
